CNSL EXTRACTION FROM CASHEW SHELL

Purchased raw cashew nut shell is crushed by a screw type single chamber expeller at the rate of 900kgs/hr. No external heat is provided to the shell during expelling.

The expelled liquid is filtered using MS mesh at 2-3 stages. Subsequently the liquid is allowed to sediment for one day.

Next day sedimented liquid is pumped into a MS heating tank where it is heated by direct heating to 180 deg Celsius in 2 hours. Heating expels water, ammonia-like substances and decarboxylates CNSL. A little amount of silicone based defoamer is added during heating to avoid frothing.

Heated CNSL is pumped to storage tanks and allowed to cool. Some amount of sedimentation takes place in storage tanks also
